When the Moodle course is created via the Moderation Portal, the Moodle Gradebook is created with grade categories for each scheduled assessment. Each of the grade categories has the Paradigm IDs recorded in the ID number.

To allow for maximum flexibility, colleges can use any type and number of graded activities for an assessment (e.g. 10 quizzes, 3 scaffolded assignments, 1 Turnitin submission, manual marks, etc).

When you're ready to transfer results from Moodle to Paradigm, follow the steps:

1)  You will need to ensure that the graded activities (e.g. Turnitin, quiz, assignment, forum, etc.) are part of the corresponding grade category.

To move the graded activities to the correct grade category, go to the Gradebook setup, tick the box for the activity and select the correct grade category from the list in "Move selected items to".

What is transferred are the total % values for each assessment grade category.

2)  You will need to ensure that the assessment results are correct in the Moodle gradebook and that the sum for each assessment grade category is calculated correctly. Only the highlighted values are going to be transferred to Paradigm. The total unit mark will be calculated on Paradigm.

3) Once your Moodle course gradebook is correct, go to the Moodle Courses page on the Moderation Portal: https://moderation.actheology.edu.au/moodle-courses/

Find the correct Moodle course and click on "transfer results".

If the function is not showing, check the Moodle Connection Details https://moderation.actheology.edu.au/moodle-courses/Moodle-Connection-Details/ to see if the Result Transfer function is enabled.

4) A confirmation box will appear, click OK

5) Wait a few seconds while a check runs. A pop-up will notify you if the result transfer process is kicked off, click OK.

The screen will refresh and move this Moodle course automatically to the "Finalised" screen. This is to prevent the result transfer action from being triggered a second time.

NOTE: Results can only be transferred once from the Moderation Portal. Any subsequent changes must be entered manually on Paradigm.

Each Scheduled Unit ID within this Moodle course is processed individually but simultaneously. For example, NT001-512/812 might have four Scheduled Unit IDs (512 on campus and off campus, and 812 on campus and off campus). It takes about 10-15 seconds per assessment result to be transferred. This means for a unit that has 3 assessment pieces and 5 students in each of the 4 Scheduled Unit ID enrolled, it will take about 2.5 minutes in total, as the result for all 20 students will be processed simultaneously.

6) Once the results are transferred, you will receive a confirmation email.

- The first link will get you the PDF result sheet so you can compare it with your Moodle course results to ensure everything has been transferred correctly.

- The second link will take you to Paradigm, where you can finalise the unit and set the outcome by clicking on "Calculate and save results from assessments" - this is a TCSI reportable action.

FAQ

How should extensions be processed?

Before you finalise the unit grades by clicking on "Calculate and save results from assessments", change the Grade Description for the student to "Extension Granted" and click on "Save Results".

Then you can finalise the unit grades by clicking on "Calculate and save results from assessments". This will keep the extension in place.

Once the mark for the extension is in and you have manually recorded the assessment grade on Paradigm, change the

Grade Description for the student to "Select a Grade" and click on "Save Results".

Then click on "Calculate and save results from assessments" to finalise the missing unit grade(s).
